Judge : Mrs Claire Kay – Seacrest Boxers - UK
I have been involved with the breed nearly all my life as my mother founded the Seacrest kennel in 1962, and bred the 1st Seacrest Champion in 1968. Although I was brought up in a show kennel, my horses were my first love. My first Champion was a part Arab colt called Seacrest Raquesh. It was only when a back injury, nearly 20 years later, ended my career in Horse racing that I turned to showing the Boxers in my own right, and soon got serious
The Seacrest kennel has been fortunate to have bred or owned eight UK Boxer Champions to date, along with an International Champion Rottweiler, and gained many National awards, including Top UK Breeder in 1999 & 2000.
As well as being a successful exhibitor attending the majority of the Championship shows each year, I also served on the committee of Tyne Wear &Tees Boxer Club for 15 years, and on the Boxer Breed council for 12 years, as delegate for that club.
I am on the UK Kennel Club A1 judging list and have awarded CC’s in Boxers for twelve years.
I am a true breed specialist Although I have judged several other breeds in the Working Group at Open show level in insignificant numbers, I have no ambitions to pursue judging qualifications in any other Breed. I have been fortunate enough to be invited to judge overseas, and to date have held appointments in Southern Ireland, Sweden, Norway, and South Africa.
Due to the successes of the team of dogs shown in 1995, SEACREST was awarded the national award for TOP KENNEL 95
In 1998 we had three dogs in the TOP TEN winning dog in the UK, by virtue of this the kennel became the first to have three male qualifiers for the DOG OF THE YEAR
The Seacrest Kennel was awarded TOP UK BREEDER in 1999 and 2000.
In 2006 Claire was nominated for the British Boxer Club BOSCAR in two categories for her judging appointment at Southern Counties that year.
Following being shortlisted into the top three nominations for the BEST JUDGE OF THE YEAR, She was voted the winner of the 2nd award, BEST WRITTEN CRITIQUE
